Refero Styles is a library of more than 2,000 AI-readable design systems derived from real product websites. Each reference breaks a visual style down into practical design decisions including colour, typography, spacing, components and layout, then packages those decisions into a DESIGN.md file that can be used directly by AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, v0 and Lovable.
Rather than prompting an AI with vague directions such as “make it modern” or relying on screenshots alone, Refero Styles provides a more explicit description of the visual system behind a reference. Individual styles can also expose CSS variables, design tokens and Tailwind configurations, making the reference useful during implementation as well as initial design exploration.
The library is part of the broader Refero design research platform, which catalogues real product screens, interaction patterns and complete user flows. Through Refero MCP, AI agents can search this wider collection directly, giving them access to real interface examples and design systems while they work.
For AI-assisted design and development, Refero Styles is particularly useful as a way of giving agents stronger visual context before they start generating an interface. It shifts some of the design direction out of prompting and into a reusable, machine-readable reference that can travel with the work.
